Yup, glass only repair needs decent proper tools like the tungsten wire used to help remove. A hairdryer at full power at 74℃ is good enough for the proper temperature of 75.5 Celsius to soften the glue up.

With the price of entire screens being as low as they are, you've burned up any price difference with the first 20 minutes of labor trying to do glass only!
