Hey Eric. Thanks for another excellent video. I'd like to get a watch for swimming pool laps. I don't want to wear a belt but I like seeing an HR rate along with times. Is there a watch you might recommend for me? Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

How do you set heart rate Zone? Also would it alarm when you cross over one zone?

Hi... Nice review
Does someone could say something more about the backlight? I have a Garmin 235 and it has a poor backligh and the numbers and letters are pretty small, especially for those who wear glasses and choose 3 or more information fields.

Hi, i bought Suunto Spartan Sport Wrist HR in an eShop. I had send it back. Why did i send it back? Because the meassurments i need, were incorrect.
An example: indoor rowing on concept2 pm5.
I was rowing for 5 km and 21 minutes. I was using the concept2 pm5 display and Suunto Spartan sport wrist hr at the same time. Measurements:
Concept2: distance 5 km, speed 14,8 km/h
Suunto: distance 1,77 km, speed 4,9 km/h ???!!!!
I wanted a nice and durable smartwatch, that can handle sports like indoor and outdoor cycling and indoor rowing. Sadly, Suunto Spartan sport wrist hr is not that one, because the measurements are terrible.
Sad, cause I really liked the design of the watch.😞

Hi Eric! Great review! Do you know if the trainer calculates your V02max? Thanks
- @TechyAgent
- 3 декабря 2017 в 12:04
When I reviewed it, it didn’t have this feature. I don’t know if they have added it since then with a firmware update.

Thanks for the info Eric. I finally went for the vivoactive3. (I also saw your review for it :)

+killahzgz Let me know how you like it or what your opinion is after you’ve had a chance to try it out!

Great review. Sadly I experienced that my HR sensor stalled after 4 km's of running. After that it would not start anymore. Very strange... 2 days after I used the watch during crossfit training. There it performed well. I will keep in mind the next time when I will do a cardio training to tighten up the watch better. I have a question though... where on your wrist should you tighten the watch? Close to the wrist bone or slightly under it?
- @TechyAgent
- 18 ноября 2017 в 02:09
+v1ce21 I try to where watches behind the wrist bone: not on top of it but not too far away either, because if I try to wear too far away it generally will slide towards the wrist and become loose. So I keep it snug just behind the wrist bone

I kind of like the Trainer, more addecuate to my budget but still a bit concerned about the mobile app, I wish they could improve it to be at the same level like Garmin.
- @TechyAgent
- 9 ноября 2017 в 09:30
+Javier I. Sampedro Yeah, it seems like they could refine a few things and really be competitive with Garmin

Thanks for the video - one thing, though, you are saying both matches have GLONASS but according to suunto, the Trainer uses only GPS. Who is wrong?
- @TechyAgent
- 1 ноября 2017 в 12:32
+ddelch I was wrong: I added a notification card that plays over top the video with that correction

Do you think you can do a comparison of the VA3 vs the Spartan Trainer. My friend lent me her Spartan Sport HR and really like the navigation features of it more than the VA3(native breadcrumbs and better poi features). However, I feel like the VA3 is better at the gym. Has that been your experience?
- @TechyAgent
- 29 сентября 2017 в 11:16
+Tanya Bakerwitz that has been precisely my experience. The VA3 is primarily a fitness and sports watch, not an outdoor watch. The Spartan Sport HR is somewhat of a hybrid: it has some sports tracking on it, although arguably not as good as the VA3, but it also has a few outdoor watch features as well.
- @tbaker077
- 30 сентября 2017 в 06:48
And there in lies my problem I want a watch that does both, but sadly the F5 is out of my budget. I am not sure what to do as I go to the gym more, but like having the better gps and having native breadcrumbs support. Which do you find to have the more accurate gps?

what about swiiming, both pool and open water? as well as triathlon? does it has the transitions included?
- @TechyAgent
- 18 сентября 2017 в 09:10
+Ramon Cavazos It does track both pool and open water sports, as well as triathlon sports. It has sports profiles for all those. I don’t know about the transitions for triathlon events as I never did any triathlon training with it, sorry.
- @tanagool
- 6 октября 2017 в 02:42
ัselect triathlon profile > start > swim > press top right button for 3 secs > transition period > press button again for cycling > press button 3 sec > transition > press button again for running > press button again and end

Hi, I've tried the Spartan Wrist HR and have to say that the HR measurement is scrap. My usual max. HR is 167. But this watch shows up to 205 bpm for the first 2 kms when I'm running . After that it seems to catch up. But it actually doesn't it shows just "something". I have a Fenix 3 as well and did someone cross checking by pairing a hr strap to either device and compared the results. So I sent the watch to Suunto for repair. After 2 weeks the watch came back together with a written Statement that they werde not able to find any failure. The interesting thing was that the values were slightly different e.g. 180 bpm at the start of a run instead of 205 But still scrap.

I´ve experienced the same Problem with my Spartan HR, needs to be real tight to measure kinda properly. Even then there still is some huge jumps in heartrate commin outa nowhere. -> compared to the Polars OH1 optical sensor which i became a fan of by now :). If this thing would have longer batterylife (lastet for about 10hrs straight) & maybe a gps sensor it´d be banger !! :)

Works great on me! Probably it’s not aligned that good on your arm.

- 15 сентября 2017 в 09:11
does the blue one have backlight bleeding?
- @TechyAgent
- 15 сентября 2017 в 11:01
+Kees If you mean uneven lighting and bleeding light on the edges, I didn’t have any issues.
- @starkyonatan5
- 14 сентября 2017 в 09:41
Do you recomend the Trainer over the Garmin forerunner 235? they are aout same price..
thank you for your videos!
- @TechyAgent
- 15 сентября 2017 в 03:13
Yes, the 235 is good, but it’s a little old. The Trainer has way more features, a faster gps, and a better heart rate sensor
- @saritstark3557
- 15 сентября 2017 в 07:03
but the question is, the long battery life and the 24/7 hr monitor doesnt make the Garmin 235 better?
tnx

There's going to be Sleep Tracking for Sporta Wrist HR too with October update together with new faces (at lease one is going to show sunrise and sunset time)

Techy Agent the Sunset feature can be seen here https://www.instagram.com/p/BY3ShiyB1cg/ and the sleep tracking was announced by Suunto on their website.

Any word on if the sport will get the all day distance information? That was one of the notable differences from the video.
What exactly is all day distance information, does it even matter?
Edit: also the link no longer works....
- @TechyAgent
- 26 сентября 2017 в 11:08
+Arcade Party thanks for letting me know about the link! I will have to check that out. The all day distance shows what your cumulative distance traveled is, calculating both your all day steps combined with any distance exercise you have done (like running). I know that Suunto Has been rolling out a lot of firmware updates, so I imagine that it will get all day distance eventually.

Eric , enjoyed the video. Is the Fenix 5X still your top choice for running and activity tracking?
- @TechyAgent
- 14 сентября 2017 в 06:50
+Rob Fant Yes, It is. Garmin still offers additional features and metrics that these Suunto watches lack.
- @Miktas
- 14 сентября 2017 в 09:05
Nice video. There is coming updates to Sport wrist hr and there are more features. Example That sleeping monitor is coming and very much more nice features. I think this would be good to say your video.
