I recently upgraded the ram in my Area 51 R2, and afterwards the computer wouldn't boot. The tower turned on, but I got nothing from the monitor or any peripherals. No output whatsoever. After a lot of headache, panic, fear, and anxiety, I finally found out that all I had to do was update the bios. I reverted to the old ram so I could boot, put in my service tag on Dell's website, updated the bios from there, put the new ram back in, and it worked like a charm. In case any poor soul is suffering the same problem and combing these comments as a last ditch effort to find a solution, definitely try updating your bios.

please could you please add an note, there is actual screw and switch to lock side door? Thanx

I know with my X51 R2 the timing had to be compatible or it would blue screen every once in a while. You keep saying 2133 but is there more to it?

Recommendation for all people having issues with brands. Look for those sellers that announce the memory as compatible with Area51-R2. It will save you a lot of time.

Could you please tell us what caviar/ram brand we need to buy to update the memory of this computer? Ripjaws V Series doesn't work either. I don't know if this a joke from Dell to their consumer, but I don't find it funny.

I upgraded my ram to 4x8g, but when I power it up, the monitor, keyboard, and mice have no reaction.
Fans and lights on the unit is on, then nothing.
Tried reinstall the ram, tried clear cmos, still not work.
What is the problem of this?

I recently ordered an area 51 and when I got it I planned on upgrading the RAM to g skill' s trident z series of RAM. Since it performs at 3200mhz would since the motherboard supports ddr4 could I just replace the current RAM and have no issue with the performance?

My A51 system has 4x4 DDR4 2133 ram, but when I look at the information using the alienware command center it says under "speed" category "DDR4-2133 (1066MHz)" in all 4 DIMM slots. Is this normal, is my RAM running at full 2133 speed, and if so, why does it say 1066MHz for each? The Bios also says RAm freq is 2133 so I'm unsure why CPU-Z, AW command center and speccy report 16gb of ram at 1066MHz. Am I missing something?
