UPDATE - I had planned to post a game video this morning, but alas it isn't quite finished, I was having too much fun playing Mass Effect Andromeda...
So you get this instead! Which was going to post tomorrow, but instead here you have it today... I'll post the game video tomorrow morning - it'll have Battlefield 1, World of Warships, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Mankind Divided all in 1 video, on the 4 different machines - G4560 / FX-8300 / i5-2400 / i5-7400 - Yes, it'll be a long video :)

Tech Deals Will a M.2 drive deteriorate as fast as a SATA SSD?

Tech Deals Isn't Mass Effect Andromeda broken for you? The amount of bugs in that game are astonishing and don't get me started on the facial animations!

Neither type of drive is likely to die before it becomes useless due to small size... Unless you go out of your way to kill it...

I don't know if your system has a recovery partition but this information from Samsung might be important for those using the data migration tool: "The OEM Recovery partition created by the computer manufacturer as a factory setting will not be cloned."

That is true, but there isn't such a partition on this PC, it is all contained in the Windows 10 install
If you wish to completely remove it and have a totally clean copy of Windows 10, you'll have to download it from Microsoft and make a USB thumb drive and do a fresh install.

OK, a 4th qustion. You said Acronis TrueImage software will not allow cloning to sveral drive brands, and that you used Samsung software and a Samsung SSD.
Would another software, other than TrueImage allow cloning to a drive that is not a Samsung drive. I am thinking of two in particular - Macrium, AOMEI, or CloneZilla - would these work with this particular Acer desktop?

OK, a 3rd question, lol: If I use a SATA to USB cable to clone a new hard drive, or even an external dock, then would I be able to clone to a new drive made by a company other than Samsung?

Nice video. 1st question: how did you connect the new SSD (cables, etc.) so you could clone to it?
2nd question: Can I use any Samsung SSD (or HDD)? (I found this Samsung, 1 TB, QVO drive for $108. (The 1 TB EVO is $291 at NewEgg). I would guess that using the Samsung 'Data Migration' software to clone my old HDD- will work on an Samsung drive? Or is that not necessarily true?
I want to clone to a new drive (my old HDD is getting SMART DETECTION ERRORS, and has 1,634 bad sectors (per Harddisk Sentinel software) , so I do prefer cloning over, fresh windows install, as i want to maintain all my data, and PC changes since I've had this pc 4 years now.

Note: As of 10/18/20 the Cyberpower linked above is not available. For me, it's too big anyway, as I want to set it horizontally on the desk, below the small shelf above the desktop. Its height becomes its width, taking up space I need for other accessories.
Plus, Acer now has a TC model for about $650 which has 12gB of RAM, which is enough for me. It also has an M.2 512gB SSD installed. The task would be to install an HDD for data in it, plus if you want, the GPU and fan. I am leaning toward this model due to my desire to create a dual-boot (non-gaming) PC for which Linux would be the main OS. Plus, I like the built-in DVD player/writer because it's installed vertically in the case, which I want to set horizontally, thus making the DVD horizontal... hopefully not upside-down, though when the grille is up,

Hi there! Would using a Samsung SSD 860 EVO be the same as using the 850? I assume the 860 also comes with this Data Migration tool? Thank you!

Can I clone windows to a 512 gb ssd without losing my data on my hard drive if I have more than 500 gb of music and pictures?

I have a Acer Aspire TC-230 and a AMD A6 7310 Apu but I decided to put a GeForce GTX 1650 Lowprofile inside the case (barely fit) it works fine but when I try to run a game the GPU will randomly crash locking my keyboard and mouse out with a blank screen (still connected to the graphics card because the monitor is connecting) everything is showing as a white hyphen in the top left middle mocks me. I have to directly remove power from the PSU to restart and turn on my PC again, thing is it only does this on slightly heavy loads such as graphics changes and resolution changes this happens in at least 5-10 minutes of gameplay or when a high amount of particles appear on the screen (lots for the CPU to load) it just crashes. I know I need a Apu upgrade but as far as I know I don't wanna buy a Ryzen 5 2600 and then it not fit any suggestions?

cloning is unreliable ... if you use windows 10 just do a quick reinstall

Bought the Acer and a Samsung SSD. Followed your instructions, and it went well. Process was amazingly quick. Only "glitch" was that the shutdown dialogue box for the migration tool was behind the larger dialogue box, which I could not move. No issue, just shut down windows, switched SATA cables, and we are good to go.
