What is the most RAM I can put into my H530S? I know the limit is supposed to be 8 GB, but I hear of people running 12 Gb and 16GB. What brand are you using? What are the specs for me to order?

Im completely new to the whole computer upgrade thing... Im 16 and i love technology and gaming, ive decided to take my Lenovo H5s Series computer and transform it into a gaming computer. Would you recommend doing it myself? Or is there somewhere i could go if im afraid of messing something up that could upgrade something for me Ex Best Buy or something like that. Would really appreciate some feedback, thanks.

I believe it is a microATX sized board.

I have a desk top version it wont boot and I use the windows disk to boot and it does not recognize the 2nd stick
+G Holyspotweld Make sure its seated all the way. Also, you could check that its not a bad stick of ram by swapping the two sticks.

+DJ-Menace the h500 has a single sodimm slot (like a laptop) that can handle up to 8GB of RAM on that slot. It looks like the suggested configuration is a DDR3 PC3-12800. With that being said a safe (and suggested by Crucial) choice would be this 8GB SODIMM http://amzn.to/1McOYlS . When I don't know the exact specs on a motherboard I use the Crucial site to help figure out configurations. Its what I used when figuring out mine.

+Doug Rowe depends if your computer can handle 16gb go to crucial scan and search if you're pc is valid with 16gb than if you wish to install 16gb ram in your pc go ahead.

RedTea If I remember correctly there is only one 4GB sticks in there. may I ask what the original RAM specs are? considering an upgrade, but would rather get 1X RAM to fill in the 2nd slot instead of 2x

why upgrade ram when u only got intergrated graphics ? im confused
For every day use you will have a perceived performance boost because programs will stay longer in memory instead of having to be cached on the hard drive. Writing to the hard drive is substantially slower than writing to memory.
