To change the screen/digitiser you need to remove the whole earpiece carrier assembly, not just the earpiece. The replacement screen/digitiser doesn't come with the carrier assembly built in so it has to be removed. The video doesn't show this at the end, so be careful here.
You'll find for some reason the carrier assembly is glued in. I broke one side of the delicate copper strapping removing mine, so I know for a fact that the earpiece will no longer work when I put it back together. The copper strap is glued to the inside of the earpiece speaker preventing it being lifted out, and I couldn't get a blade behind to lift it very well at the same time as gently tugging at it, and it broke.
Careful people, it's too late for me but don't let your M9 suffer the same fate as mine!
UPDATE: I removed the earpiece carrier, the copper PCB looking stuff is properly glued down. This makes removing it without breaking it impossible.
6:35 Here you can see the assembly I'm taking about. You can't replace your screen/digitiser and still have your phone work, because the replacement screen/digitiser you purchase doesn't come with this built in. Not even the genuine HTC ones that cost about 100 quid. You'd have nowhere to install your earpiece in the new one.
So this video is incomplete at a critical juncture. It shows properly how to strip everything else, but lets face it - most of us are going to be wanting to swap out a broken screen or perhaps replace a battery.
Proceed at your peril, if you try it you'll see what I mean. You'll get to the point at the end of the video and be left realising that part also has to come out. It WILL break if you try - it's strong adhesive sticking down a fragile copper strip which has much larger surface area than thickness. It will break, and you can't get underneath to pry it without having lifted it first. Catch-22.
In short, if your digitiser goes wrong (as mine has towards the bottom of the screen), your M9 is only good for parts.
Hi. Do you know where is located GSM module for calls? Is it mainboard or in daughterboard in phone's upper side? My accidentally drowned, everything is working, but calling function is now dead..

So it is possibile to repair rear camera protection glass by changing back cover quite fast..
do not remove the speaker remove the entire plastic part at the top area with the gold connectors with it. it is put with sticky tape so gently pry up on the piece.

I know. after I removed the speaker with out removing the entire plastic part that surrounded it. I destroyed the speaker so I had to get another one to replace it.
mobiblu07 I ripped mine in 3 spots and surprisingly I just placed the wires really close to each other and burnt the plastic so the wires where connected
glad it work for you. When I tried to put it together like that it work for a little bit the sound would go in and out so I decided to get a new speaker. Not that expensive specially on ebay.

Hi, i replaced the rear housing on my m9 and for some reason my nfc has stopped working? i did not touch and flex cables or fittings aprt from the screws at the top of the phone.. is there any reason this would happen? where abouts is the nfc chip located? the rear housing was purchased from etradesupply online shop so i assume it is genuine or to a similar standard (not that i think this should affect the nfc)... any ideas?

I have the same problem. I replaced the battery, and did everything as shown in numerous tear down videos. However, now the phone works ok but with no nfc...

+Harriet Milner Sorry, there isn't. To replace the camera lens isn't too difficult. You need to tear down and open the back cover, then use some tools like spudger to push the camera lens out from the inner back cover. Or you can send it to the repair shop for help.
Damn, the insides are so complicated compared to many other devices on the market. Nice job on the teardown!
