Is there an alternative OS besides android that can go on this tablet? I've just powered mine up after a long time of not using it, it has Android 4.4.2 which is really old. Like usually happens with Android it can't be updated.

The battery is glued, it was very difficult to remove it without damaging it. But the sad part is that it is NOT necessary to remove the battery in order to change the motherboard or the screen.

After removing the motherboard, the touchscreen is the remaining piece.

Parts-People.Com, Inc How do you remove the screen, it seems like they are glued together?
- @dellpartspeople
- 22 January 2015 in 03:14
juicebowl
They are glued together and very difficult to separate. You would need a heat gun and a lot of patience. If you have never separated the layers of a touchscreen before, I would not recommend trying. It is very very difficult and chances are you will damaged a few different screen before you are able to remove the glass.

Parts-People.Com, Inc Cool, I'll consider myself warned -- now can we have a video for the bravehearted who will want to do it anyway?

I'm currently making videos for a Latitude E5420. When I'm done with that, I'll try to get a cracked screen to make the video for you.

yeah made sure, i removed the digitizer with a heat gun (really troublesome process) and then turned dv7 on, works perfectly.. even attached a usb mouse (otg) to check for dead pixels or hardware defect..
problem is i broke the speaker pins from the mother board... they work fine if there is contact.. gotta figure out a solution...
